I wish people could see the struggles MMA fighters go through. Especially those not signed to a major promotion. The hell they go through just to do what they love: from long distance rides to multiple doctor visits, fighting is more than just a physical game. That’s one of the aspects of the fight game I learned after talking to Chad. We tried to link up on several occasions, but either life got in the way for me, or training was too tiring for him after a long day of work.

I will forever have respect for anyone who trains to fight in this sport. One thing I admired about Kelly is he’s a very humble guy, but also extremely nice. You don’t expect that right off the back. I watched two documentaries on him and his peers always say how he’s willing to help others in the gym. From working a full-time job to training for fights, Kelly is truly a modern-day superhero.

Kelly participated in our post-interview segment, 10 Random Questions with a Rapper. This time around, we discussed everything from music to his favorite Pop Tart flavor. Take a look at Kelly’s answers below:

Favorite Pop Tart?
The Oreo one is the best; the one you can pour your own cream on top.

Favorite Machine Gun Kelly Song?
I don’t listen to him much, he has good songs, but I’m into better rap.

What are you currently binge watching on Netflix?
I just finished watching Iron Fist. I’m a huge comic book nerd, so it was great.

If you could be a superhero, who would it be?
Spiderman, he’s my favorite.

Favorite fighter/s right now?
Conor McGregor and Demetrious Johnson.

What is the first thing you are eating after your next fight?
Chinese food. It will be ready to go after the fight, they will have it ordered it for me.

Favorite walkout song?
The Beetles – A Hard Day’s Night. This next fight, I’ll be walking out to Jimi Hendrix’s – Voodo Child.

Old Logan or new Logan (Wolverine)?
Old Logan.

Would you audition for The Ultimate Fighter?
Yeah sure, I would.

If the UFC signed you to a contract, who would you want in your debut?
If I got signed, I would want to fight for the belt. So, Cody Garbrandt.

I can’t wait to see where MMA takes Kelly, whether it’s the UFC or more fights under CES MMA. It’s always awesome to see people from back home doing well and chasing their dreams. Never stop.

Last words from Machine Gun Kelly:

I want to give a huge thanks to my head coach, Mike Gibbs, my sparring partner and coach Matt Durling, and everyone at The Fighting Arts Academy.
